About CIE

R.M.K. Engineering College has established the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) as an ecosystem to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship among students and faculty members. This is in line with the objectives and directions set by the Government of India as given below.

The activities of the CIE are governed by the National Innovation and Startup Policy (NISP) 2019 as published by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) (renamed later as Ministry of Education – MoE). Please refer : AICTE Brochure

In the last 6 years, India has made considerable progress in the world map in the areas of innovation and entrepreneurship. India has moved up from 81st position in 2015 to 52nd position in 2019 and 48th position in 2020 in Global Innovation Index (GII) ranking and is in the 78th position in Global Entrepreneurship Index (GEI). For India to emerge as a global innovation hub, the Government of India expects that higher education institutions (HEIs) should have an ecosystem which will encourage, inspire and nurture young students by exposing them to new ideas and processes resulting in innovative activities in their formative years.
