Mechanical Engineering Department is Accredited with (A+ grade:5 years) by the NBA,AICTE,New Delhi.The Department is known for its extensive and fruitful interaction with the Industries and other R&D organizations. The Department is responsible for the MoU with the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research (ISVR) of the University of Southampton,UK, under which several short-term courses have been offered to industry participants in areas related to NVH. The department has state- of- the- art facilities in CAD/CAM/CAE and students are given extensive job-oriented training on the latest softwares like Solid Works,Hi-CAD,Metaphase,ANSYS,COSMOS,etc.,Most of the students projects are industry oriented.
Additional training is imparted to students on Personality Development and other soft-skills relevant to industry needs.
Visits to industries in and around chennai are regularly arranged. The Department has a team of dedicated ,well qualified and experienced faculty which includes five professors
Companies like Mahindra & Mahindra ,Blue Star, TVS Groups, Satyam Venture, ELGI Equipments, BGR Energy Systems, KONE Elevators ,Pricol, VA_Tech ,FLSmidth and Wabag have recruited ample number of final year students.
The Professional activities include various guest lectures by eminent industrialists, Programs under Mechanical Engineeriing Association ,Product Development and Management Association of India (PDM) ,Collegiate club of theSociety of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and regular short.term courses for both students and professionals on modeling, assembly and drafting using highend CAD/CAM Software.
