About CoE
R.M.K. Engineering College established a Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) in the Academic Year 2013-14.The Department of Mechanical Engineering is Knowledge Partnered with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). All the Mechanical Engineering students are trained in cutting edge technologies to meet out the competitive world at 360 degrees in the areas of Technology, Research and Innovation. As per the guidance given by our Knowledge Partner, the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) is the one of the key domain in the field of Mechanical Engineering in which TCS is handing projects. Since 2013-14 the students were trained under PLM CoE in Creo 3D Modeling software and Windchill PLM Software to enhance employability skills and opportunities for placement in Core, IT and ITES Industries.

Lab established
R.M.K. Engineering College established a Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) in the Academic Year 2013-14 by investing more than 1 Crore Rupees towards software and infrastructure development. The facility comprise of the following two software
(i) Creo Modelling Software ( CAD)
(ii) PTC Windchill Software (PLM)
The training in the niche area provided for (a) Enhancing employability skills (b) Aligning with current global industrial trends (c) To bridge the gap between Institute & industry in affiliation with PTC software tools in our Centre of Excellence (CoE) at Department of Mechanical Engineering.
Engagement activities
By now, the PLM-CoE is about to reach out a decade, crossing several milestones and achieved success in its endeavours through enhanced employability skills of the students as an outcome, our PLM Trained Mechanical Engineering Students are currently working in various top MNCs with higher pay band and in higher designation. Presently, having our institution under Autonomous Status since 2020, 40% of the Mechanical Engineering curriculum in terms of theory and laboratory courses are included with the concepts and content related to PLM based on suggestions and guidance received from PLM domain experts in TCS, being our Knowledge partner. To enhance the Teaching and Learning Process in PLM domain, the faculty members have been trained in PLM by corporate trainers under Training the Trainer model. Recently, many of our PLM trained students were recruited under PLM domain by Tata Consultancy Services, Stellantis and HCL Technologies and they were offered Internship with stipends during their eight semester. Under the PLM domain the faculty and students have jointly completed several projects and also published patents successfully.
