One day Workshop on Outcome based Education – NBA (TIER I) Perspective
Internal Quality Assurance cell of R.M.K. Engineering College (An Autonomous Institution)
organised one day Workshop on Outcome based Education – NBA (TIER I) Perspective for
RMK Group of Institutions faculty members on 19 th March 2024.
The workshop familiarized the faculty members with the accreditation criteria and standards
set in TIER I by National Board of Accreditation. This workshop helps the faculty members
in align their teaching, research, and service activities with these criteria, thereby contributing
to the overall quality improvement of academic programs. In addition, this workshop enables
the faculty members to improve their teaching strategies, assessment methods, and
curriculum design.
Dr. T.Thyagarajan, Emeritus Professor, Madras Institute of Technology, Chromepet, Chennai
and Dr. S.Muttan, Emeritus Professor, Anna University, Chennai delivered the sessions on

Orientation Workshop on An Insight into the ABET Accreditation Process
Orientation Workshop on An Insight into the ABET Accreditation Process organised by
Internal Quality Assurance cell on 8 th March 2024. Dr. Muruganantham Ponnusamy, Deputy
Registrar, Indian Institute of Information technology, Kalyani, West Bengal, delivered the
session.
Webinar on Student Counselling System
As a part of the QA activities of IQAC, a webinar on Student’s Counselling System by IonIdea Interactive Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru was arranged on April 25, 2018 from 3PM to 4PM for the Counsellors, Year Co-Ordinators, HODs , IQAC and ISO members.
Guest Lecture on Poka Yoke
Poka Yoke, an error/fool proofing technique employed in product manufacturing plants as a quality assurance procedure, on which a guest lecture was given by Mr. C.V. Gowri Sankar, Secretary, NIQR Chennai Branch to the students and faculties on February 8, 2018.
ISO Periodic Auditing 2017
The Quality Assurance of the institution is implemented through the Quality Management System (QMS) complying with the ISO 9001 : 2008 standards. The QMS is the document consisting of all processes and forms involved in the academic and administrative activities to implement the processes.
DNV – GL conducts External Auditing once in a year as an academic audit of the activities and suggests improvements. The audits are Certification (2001) or Recertification (2004, 2007, 2010, 2013, 2016) auditing (RCA) once in 3 years and Periodic Auditing (PA) once a year in the other 2 years. In 2001, the institution got certified in ISO 9001 : 2000 and in 2007 transitioned to ISO 9001 : 2008. The PA for 2017 was conducted successfully in November 29 and 30, 2017.
ISO Internal Auditor Training
Internal Audit is an important process which is conducted regularly at planned intervals to check the effectiveness of the implementation, maintenance and improvement of the QMS. The internal audit is done by certified internal auditors of the institution. In preparation of the transition to the new standards ISO 9001 : 2015, 20 teaching and non-teaching staff of the institution were trained to be ISO Internal Auditors on October 30 and 31, 2017 by a resource person from DNV – GL.
NIQR Inauguration and Awareness Program on Industry 4.0
As a part of the Quality Assurance program to improve further and sustain the quality standards of the Institution, RMK has joined with the National Institution for Quality and Reliability (NIQR) as an Academic Institution member. The NIQR program was inaugurated by Mr.C.V. Gowri Sankar, Secretary, NIQR Chennai Branch on August 10, 2017 at 9.00 AM at the New Block Seminar Hall and subsequently he delivered a lecture on Industry 4.0 to the faculties and students from 10.00 AM to 3.00 PM by two sessions. The awareness program on Industry 4.0 was very useful to the faculties and students to update their knowledge on science and Engineering to the trending fourth industrial revolution.
