B.E. IN ELECTRONICS AND INSTRUMENTATION ENGINEERING
The Department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering was started in the year 1998 with an annual intake of 30 students. In the year 1999 intake was raised to 60 with an additional intake of 30. In the year 2012 intake was again raised to 120 with an additional intake of 60. Currently the annual intake of faculty of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering is 60 students. In the year 2021 the strength has reduced from 60 students to 30 students. The department has always aims high from inception. This department has well qualified and experienced faculty in all specializations such as Process Control, Power Control, Power Electronics, Instrumentation, Signal Processing, Image Processing, Wireless Communication and Networking. The department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering has very good instructional and infrastructure facilities.
The faculty of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering maintains the student to staff ratio of 15:1 as per the norms and guidelines of AICTE. Senior faculty members are guiding research scholars enrolled at Anna University for the PhD and MS by Research Programs. The faculty members have received honors and awards for distinguished services in academics and research. All faculty members are encouraged to attend FDPs and workshops regularly to develop their teaching and research skills. All the faculty members are either doctorates or master degree holders. The faculties with mater degree holder are pursuing their PhD programs at various universities including Anna University, Chennai. Most of our faculties are members of various professional bodies such as ISOI , IEEE, ISTE,IET,IE(I), etc.
The faculty of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering is consistently producing very good academic results in the Anna University semester examinations from the beginning. The students are encouraged to participate in symposiums, conferences, workshops, etc. organized by other colleges and universities and win prizes for various events. The faculty of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering is regularly organizing symposium, workshops and conferences, which will help to update the practical knowledge of students. The EIE Students’ Association (EIESA) encourages the students to do mini projects in current technologies. The students’ Chapters of ISOI, IE (I), ISTE, and IET help to bring out hidden talents of students. The students are regularly taken to industries such as Dhawan Space Centre (SHAR), Madras Atomic Nuclear Power Station, Regional Meteorological Centre, Ennore Thermal Power Station, Ashok Leyland, Caterpillar India Pvt Ltd, Nittan India Tech Pvt Ltd, Excel Automation Solutions Pvt Ltd, The Indian Express, Kamachi Sponge and Power Corporation Ltd, VI Micro Systems Pvt Ltd, CSIR SERC Lab and Lucas TVS etc during the course of their study.
To bridge the gap between industry and intuition Centre of Excellence (CoE) are established. The faculties of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering have two Centre of Excellences, they are “Centre of Excellence In Factory Automation (FA)” sponsored by Mitsubishi Electric India Private Limited and “Centre of Excellence in Building Management Systems (BMS)” in collaboration with Johnson Controls India ltd (JCI). LABVIEW Academy is established in collaboration National Instruments (NI) to develop prototypes for Measurement, Automation and Control Engineering problems. The value added courses are conducted to enrich students’ skills by expert trainers.
The Guest lectures are arranged frequently with eminent professors, research scientists and industrial experts to provide the students with the latest developments in industry and across the globe. Besides academics, the students excel in sports and games and win prizes in events organized by other universities and colleges. The training and placement department organizes various training programs with renowned expert trainers from industries and multinational companies to improve the oral, written skills, aptitude skills, of students so that they can be easily hired by leading core, IT and ITES industries.
The most of our students placed in core companies like Johnson Controls India Ltd, Soliton Technologies Pvt Ltd, Honeywell Automation India Limited, in addition to IT and ITES industries like Cognizant Technology Solutions, Infosys and Wipro. A good numbers students opted higher studies. They are studying in aboard and reputed intuitions in India. Pragati Online Counseling is used to track Students’ Performance. Self-Learning – All the students are provided with Assessment Tool Skill Rack for programming and online Laboratories. App based and as well as web based AI-Powered Learning System RMK Next gen is provided for all the students. All the class rooms are enabled with WiFi connectivity. A smart class room with smart TV is used to tech in audio and visual lectures.
The Central and Department libraries have good collection of around 5591 volumes text and reference books exclusively for the department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering. A good number of printed national and international journals are subscribed regularly to promote research culture. Indian Journal of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering Research and Development, Indian Journal of Instrumentation, Inventi Impact: Biomedical Engineering, Inventi Impact : Biomedical Imaging, Indian Journal of Electrical and Biomedical Engineering, Journal of Chemical Sciences and Journal of Instrument Society of India are exclusive journals faculty of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering. Online and virtual learning facilities like NPTEl, facenow, SkillRack and HackerRank are also provided to the students.
