‘Man’ and ‘woman’ — two words, one made out of another. The very word ‘woman’ longer of the two indicates that they are more worthy of the two and can take in more than men. Evidently, women need to, have to, be given their full rights in this society, at par with men. This discrimination against women, which has been existing since time immemorial is commendable and the situation is growing extreme nowadays with domestic violence and harassment being a very common way of molestation. Little do we realize the havoc it creates in the intellectual and spiritual development of theirs and how they get terrified even to share their sorrows. Share... with whom? When the ones from whom they expect help are the very ones who are responsible for their plight.

This struggle for equality for both men and women has been going on for quite a long time. One very prominent among them has been around 1789 during French revolution when many revolutionary figures like Charlotte, Corday worked tirelessly for adult suffrage for women and universal code for men and women alike. India has not stood back in this regards as well many social revolutionaries have laid down their lives for this cause and thanks to their efforts the situation has improved, to a small extent, but there is still a long way to Prosperity Scheme [Baluka Samruddhi Yojana], Self — Fulfillment Scheme, [Swayamsiddha2001], Self-Respect Scheme [2002]..

(b) CONCENTRATION ON EDUCATIONAL PLANS:-

Socrates says, “An education obtained, with money is worse than no education at all! More funds should be allocated for children’s education, providing equalized education and employment oriented education. We can control poverty and eradicate if all are educated, certainly after 10 — 15 years, our country will be prosperous and people need not to live in poverty and hunger.

Conclusion:If we share our goods with have — nots, certainly there won’t be poverty and hunger in this world. So people should be generous, kind enough to help the weak to stand with their our legs — If we understand the severe problems of hunger and poverty, certainly we will come together to drive them out from the society. Only then, the whole humanity can experience joy and happiness. Let me conclude this essay with words of Mother Teresa, “Do what yoii do best, but do it for the love of God, not for fame or riches, and you will begin helping the whole world.” Let us have hunger to serve the poor more and more and create “new heaven and new earth.”

are treated duly and help them realize that they can also be a parallel part of us and not hesitate in our presence. (I am a boy!)
Also, it is seen that in how many house holds the women are by default are made to do the household chores. In how many hotels can we find women working as the chefs? Men

• (egoistically) consider it a disgrace to do the housekeeping or making work at home. . . leave alone their fatigue after a day’s outdoor work. Given a payment they are ready to take up such jobs which are of course at some other place. What if women start feeling the same?

These thoughts regarding house- hold chores need to be changed. Some consideration needs to be induced towards the women-fold into the men. I can start with my home helping out my mom with her work and making my dad help her too. Such ideas can be spread into the general public through the mass media too.

One of the reasons why men have such a dominating say in the family is that they are the earning members of the family and the main financial support base for the family to run. Women are deprived of such privalages and so are they from financial independence. Women can be encouraged especially in some rural house holds to get into extra activities so as to aid monetary independence and be more self reliable. I would encourage them to be more involving and not restrict themselves, redeem them of their mental barriers and think freely and independently for a better future- both theirs and their family’s. I would also try to convince their husbands and fathers to encourage them and not to be a hitch in their way to development and respect the women in their homes.

Sometimes, or maybe in many cases, the employment sector does not view the male and the female employees equally. Women are paid much less than what males get for the same quality and time for which the work is done. Many of their complaints are blinded too. I wouldtake up their cause and might join and help NGO’s working for the same cause too. Community support would be of outmost importance in this regard. I would try to convince as many people as possible to help us out in this endeavor and together try to help the disadvantaged.

One major form, and one of the most brutal kinds too, of gender discrimination is child infanticide and foeticide. ... close someone’s eyes forever even before they could open up properly! It has had a serious affect on the sex ratio on many parts of our country as well as the world. Girls are considered a burden by a family and not allowed all the happiness that a boy gets, which she too deserves. The condition in certain places is pitiable. Though it has been officially banned by the government, it still exists and not many are unaware of it. Yet not many productive sLps are being taken. Haven’t women proved themselves as good as men n every field? The world’s fastest female rumer, the present Olympic champion was an asthma patient and yet could do so well. This shows their strength and determination which just needs to he nurtured to make them valuable assets.

Discrimination against women is also seen in the field of suffrage and position holding where men push women far behind. In 60 years of independence there has been only 2 women holding the highest offices in India. 2 women have become the first wing marshals in the Indian defence only very recently. In countries like Saudi Arabia women are not allowed to cast their vote. Many religions too discriminate against women. Such discrepancies need to he eradicated from the society and equal opportunities should be given to both men, and women with their ability and effic.iency alone being the defining character in all aspects. These can be equalized only by viewing them equally and working together for this cause .
