INTODUCTION:
“Think Globally, Act Locally”
A man who need to fulfill all his fundamental needs such as eating three times a day, wearing good clothes, building a house, studying, working, earning money, involving in all types of entertainment, achieving goals etc., should basically maintain a good health. For such good health environmental factors such a land, water, air plays a vital role. To achieve all the above mentioned fundamental needs, these environmental factors should be maintained. Appropriately. Only then, an individual can live his life to the best
REASON FOR MY CHOICE:
“Lead kindly light”
Also to eradicate poverty, achieve universal, primary education, promote gender equality, reduce child mortality, combat HIV AIDS, Malaria & other disease improve maternal health, To develop global partnership an individual should be healthy and that in turn demands a good environment, that is the reason why I chose this topic
My AMBITION:
“Ambition is to a man as where
Fragrance is to a flower”
Now, I am a school student when I enter college, I will definitely choose a degree which is related to environment and also do a research study to find a solution to solve the problem affecting the virginity of the environment I will somehow bring my research results to Government's notice and get help from the Government to implement those findings in society. By that way I will definitely bring an environmental revolution to the man kind and universe.
CHALLENGES
In India with a rapid growing population, most villages and cities face the problem of water shortage and degraded sanitation amenities. in addition, 60-80 per cent of the connections are metered, but only 20 per cent of the meters are in working order. The reasons are common to most cities in India, namely intem1ittent water supply, tampering by consumers and inability to repair or replace faulty meters. To ensure cost recovery the tariff structure needs to be reviewed. Though the 73rd and 74th amendment provides provision for greater autonomy in local decision-making, there has been little devolution of power from the Center with respect to tariff setting.
With these Constitutional Amendments, the local bodies would increasingly need to take on the responsibility for operation and maintenance of basic services of drinking water and sanitation. Most local bodies, however, are dependent on the Central and State Governments for their financial needs
For Now, According to my age and experience I have certain plans to safeguard environrnent, which are as follows:
PLAN 1: UTLITY OF FORESTS:
"Trees are the poems written on earth whose breeze makes vapour into rain as rebirth"
In my house and outside I will not waste water. I will grow trees and plants around my house and treat the sewage water appropriately. The main problem that people says today is water problem. The main source of water is rain. To get a fair amount of rain, forests should not be destroyed, but that is what is happening at the present time, so what I would do is, write letter to the Government and Forest authorities reminding about their responsibility and methods to be followed in safe guarding. Also I would create opportunity and bring awareness to the public. Specially young minds through stage program and media about growing plants and trees.
If this plan of mine comes out successfully there will be three advantages. They areas follow:
We will get good amount of rain periodically
The land will be made stronger and wealthier.
Air will be prevented from pollution and become pure.
PLAN2: IT’S ALL OZONER:
"They paved paradise and put up a parking lot, With a pink hotel, A boutique And a swinging hot spot"
Ozone layer has a hole in it, which is getting larger day by day. Most of the people are not aware of it. And even the educated people who are aware of this problem do not have the seriousness. Because of this situation, I feel very bad. When I thought seriously about this, certain things came to my mind. The main causes for air pollution and the hole created in Ozone layer are the smoke coming out from gas (Chloro Fluro Carbon) from air conditioners, Fridge, Plastics etc., Alternatives to this problem in my view is using cycles to nearby distances and use paper bags, instead of plastic bags which I follow in my day today life. Everyone should follow this. This impact has two advantages.
Purifying the air
Our health
When we need to travel to long we need to choose bike, car buses etc. In that case, how can we avoid smoke? Steam engines which were used in ancient days emit a large amount of smoke. These were later converted to electric train which do not emit smoke. This change should be brought in road ways also. Vehicles which do not emit smokes using battery or electricity should be invented and vehicle that have filter mechanism that prevents smokes should be invented. As we know, nowadays the temperature has increased to a greater degree and also diseases related to skin have increased. These are due to the hole that has been created in the Ozone layer and due to the exposure of Ultra Violet rays. I will do research based on the closure of the hole in the Ozone layer or atleast to reduce the size of the hole. Also, I will make the use to join research through counseling.
PLAN 3:
“Make your place better to live in”
First and for most, I will see that the sewage water coming out from my house do not stagnate anywhere I will insist the Government through the welfare association in different parts of the city to promote proper drainage system. Not only city rural areas also should have a good drainage system. Factories and industries are releasing more amount of sewage water into rivers, ponds etc. This has connected the drinking water to sewage water. All the sewage recycling systems are available, but still this is happening. Due to the negligence of the Government authorities and irresponsibility of the factory and industry areas. So, I will labour people and fight against this and bring the attention of media and press. Through them, I will force the Pollution Control Board and Govemment to take action against this.
Overall the temperature and the environment has changed and that in turn has an impact in overall life style. To change this situation we need a change in our education. Talking and writing once in a while about pollution and its control is not enough. We need to follow certain things in our day to day life.
We have to introduce studies about environment and its safety in the syllabus and bring awarness among the students. Students who pursue higher studies and researches related to environment should be given scholarship and funds requirements for the research. Also they should be given priority in employment. This in turn increases interest arid involvement for the students in this subject, more researches will be undergone and solutions to these environmental problems will be found. And that will put a full stop to all the problems
POLICIES AND PROGRAMMES
In India, water supply and sewerage are State subjects with the states empowered by the Constitution of India to enact laws, frame policies or fix prices of related services as provided in the Constitution of India. The Union Government only formulates guiding policies, sets standards, and provides technical and financial assistance to the states. Planning and implementation of water development projects is handled both at the Centre and State levels. At the local level, according to the provisions of the 73rd and 74th Constitutional Amendments, urban local bodies are responsible for providing water supply in urban areas, and the Panchayati Raj institutions in rural areas.
There have been several policy interventions by the Union Government of India in the Water and Sanitation sectors. These policies highlight the need to improve the delivery of these basic services, and acknowledge the possibility and need of an independent body to regulate the sector, and the importance of community participation. The National Water Policy of 2002 calls for a holistic and integrated approach to water management, identifies drinking water as the priority, discusses various environmental issues, and proposes participation of the beneficiaries and the private sector in water management. Several other Union Government policy statements also have a bearing on the water sector.
CONCLUSION:
“I do not know of any environmental group
In Any country that does not view its
Government as an adversary"
The Pollution Control Board should create awareness among the people. The board should also ensure that all the rules and regulations formulated by the Pollution Control Board should be followed properly by the individuals, factories and Industries. If not severe punishment should be given. I will definitely follow these things in my life and I will consider this as my duty and serve the mankind and nature.
