INTRODUCTION:

As the words of Great Poets say, ‘THE WORLD IS A BEAUTIFUL PLACE TO LIVE IN’ . Is it true always? To be very specific, is it true everywhere? The age of the earth is said to be some million years. The age of mankind also accounts to some million years. From then, there has been gradual development of human and his environment gradual ups and downs, cracks and seals, constructions and destructions have brought mankind to this level. Cover the past 1000 years there has been absolutely tremendous development in all fields. We, the human beings are attempting to conquer the universe these days. We’re continuously exploring the unknown. But so far a balance between the Haves and Have nots has not been created.

IMPERFECT BALANCE:

Where is the world going??? Is it developing or deteriorating itself. An unbelievable fact is “If less than 1% of the money spent on weapons world wide is spent of children’s education, there will be no children out of school”. Yet it has not happened so approximately 13 children die of hunger every minute. Who is to be blamed for all these? It is all because of us, the Human.

HEART BREAKING STATISTICS:

  • More than 80% of the world’s population lives in countries where income differentials are widening.
  • The poorest 40% of the world’s population accounts for 5 % of global income. The rifest 20% accounts for three-quarters of world income.
  • About 72 million children of primary school age in the developing world were not in school in 2005; 57% of them were girls.
  • Nearly a billion people entered the 21st century unable to read a book or sign their names.
  • Some 1.1 billion people in developing countries have inadequate access to water, and 2.6 billion lack basic sanitation. Almost two in three people lacking access to clean water survive on less than $2 a day, with one in three living on less than $1 a day.
  • Number of children in the world: 2.2 billion

  • Number in poverty: 1 billion (every second child)

    • 10.6 million died in 200s before they reached the age of 5 (same as children population in France, Germany, Greece and Italy)
    • 1.4 million die each year from lack of access to safe drinking water and adequate sanitation ,Health of children: Worldwide,
    • 2.2 million children die each year because they are not immunized
    • 15 million children orphaned due to HIV / AIDS ( similar to the total children population in Germany or United Kingdom)

CAUSES OF POVERTY:
BLACK ECONOMY:

A parallel or a black market is an illegal structure that is created in response to government intervention, which produces excess supply or demand for a product. When the price of foreign currency is set below the market-clearing rate, an excess demand is usually generated for acquiring foreign currency.

HAZARDOUS MATERIALS IN EELECTRONIC WASTE AND THEIR EFFECTS ON HUMANS AND THE ENVIRONMENT:

Effects of black money on Economy:

  1. Affects public revenues,
  2. Degenerates the investable surplus,
  3. Delimits the national productivity,

CORRUPTION:

Efficient institutions that are not corrupt and obey the rule of law make and enforce good laws that provide security to property and businesses. Efficient and fair governments would work to invest in the long-term interests of the nation rather than plunder resources

IGNORANCE:

The  Ignorance  of  people  leads  to  many  evils. The  people  don’t  understand  the value  of  education.  Almost  half  the  world’s  population  cannot  write  their  names. Ultimately they are ignored from jobs. This leads to poverty.

UNEMPLOYMENT:

Lack of Education actually reflects in unemployment.   IMPROPER   GOVERNANCE:

The unwillingness of governments and feudal elites to give full-fledged property rights of land to their tenants is cited as the chief obstacle to development. This lack of economic freedom inhibits entrepreneurship among the poor. New enterprises and foreign investment can be driven away by the results of inefficient institutions, notably corruption, weak rule of law and excessive bureaucratic burdens.

TEN STEPS TO ERADICATE POVERTY:

  1. All political parties to commit to eradicate poverty.
  2. Poverty proof policies – make each consistent with eradicating child poverty.
  3. Update the combined value of child tax credit and child benefit at least in line with fastest growing of either prices or earnings. The element of this that is child benefit ought to be maximized.
  4. Increase the adult payments within income support in line with those for children.
  5. Reform the administration of tax credits and benefits – ensure they get the right amount to the right people at the right time.
  6. Ensure all children have full access to the requirements – meals, uniforms and activities – of their education.
  7. Provide benefit entitlements to all residents equally, irrespective of immigration status.
  8. Work towards better jobs, not just more jobs.
  9. Introduce free at the point of delivery, good quality, universal childcare.
  10. Reduce the disproportionate burden of taxation on poorer families.

NATIONAL CONTRIBUTION:

Target 1: Reducing have the proportion of the people living below poverty line & sealing poverty gap ratio
On the whole, a nation’s true development depends upon its GDP. So it is the sole responsibility of the government in uplifting it. The gap between Haves and have-nots should be sealed. Government should take measures to uplift the people living under poverty line. PROPER  PROPOSITIONS  SHOULD  BE  INSTALLED.
Ultimately if better jobs are extended to the people with very low income of about $1 per day. Poverty can be tremendously  decreased by 2015.

To the fact that 75% private consumption is by the world’s rich(5%). So the poverty gap ratio should be reduced by creating the proper money flow to the needed.

MONEY SHOULD BE TRANSFERRED FROM HAVES TO HAVE-NOTS

Approximately 497 people(.000008%) of world population posses 13.6 trillion$.
If 50% of this amount is shared equally to all who live under poverty line, they can have a sophisticated life.
This is to state that THE WORLD IS NOT POOR, BUT ITS WEALTH HAS BEEN CONCENTRATED TO A VERY FEW.
So it is mandatory to show interest on the world’s dark side rather than continuously spending on war, Technology etc.

SOCIAL CONTRIBUTION:

Target 2: Providing Employment to Women, Men and Youth.
                Eradicating hunger by simple means.
The government cannot be blamed for all deterioration. As social elements, people should take  initiatives to employ and earn themselves. Over the past few years, SELF HELP GROUPS  have helped may communities to earn for their basic amenities. Ultimately the employment rate can be increased.

Today 25% of the people(PPP<10$) can raise their income to 50$ per day. By being an active participant of self help groups.

INDIVIDUAL CONTRIBUTION:

Creating self-less attitude is the need of the hour. There is no use of blaming the nation or society for all evils around us. We as separate individuals can change the fate of a nation.  A BETTER WORLD OF PARADISE AHEAD………..

For every five years from 1980, The percentage of Unemployment, poverty has been as shown below.

CONCLUSION:

Poverty is the parent of crime &revolution. -Aristotle

These words give the capacity of Poverty to destroy the world. We create technologies to further refine the sophisticated lives. But the other darker part of the World is ignored.A proper balance should be created between the High technology and appropriate technology. We as better Human beings should take necessary steps to Eradicate poverty and Hunger.

Taking into account, the government and individual should create a better co-operation between them in uplifting appropriately in all fields. HENCE THE GOAL TO ERADICATE EXTREME POVERTY AND HUNGER CAN BE ACHIEVED.
